A New Chapter In My Life

Eight years ago I was asked by my pastor, John Rose if Candace and I would consider helping start a new church in Chula Vista. With our first child being only 10 mos., and no prospects of income we made the plunge into the unknown. We weren’t exactly sure of the details, but we knew Rancho Vista was where God was calling us to be.

Some of you know that church planting can be exhilarating, debilitating, satisfying, frustrating, joyful and a lot of hard work. But one thing I can say in spite of it all is I have enjoyed being part of a ministry that has been used by God to change lives. This is why it is so difficult for me to write the next sentence. Effective December 13 I will be stepping down as worship leader at Rancho Vista Church.

So you are probably asking why? Rather than writing all of the reasons why we are leaving, here is a video I sent to our worship team explaining myself.

Diggin’ The Short Film

This  week, the company I work for (Outreach), is hosting the National Outreach Convention at the Town & Country Convention Center. It has been great to see how our organization is being used to impact lives across this country.

Last night we went to the Outreach Film Festival to check out a couple of films. We had already seen To Save A Life, the feature at the festival, so we wanted to check out something a little different. While there were a lot of choices, Candace and I finally landed on the session that featured a number of short films. I have to say that I haven’t really paid to much attention to this form of filmmaking, but I was moved last night by these films. What a powerful art form! I am now a huge fan.

I think what I like the best about this form is that they communicate a story in a concise and uniquely powerful way.

The following is one of the films that we saw called Butterfly Circus. Some of you may recognize Nick Vujicic who plays “Will” and know his incredible story.
